Ghost Ring Sights Glock - Ghost ring sights are something I've always been interested in, but never had a chance to mess with - that was until recently when AMERIGLO sent me a pair of Glock Ghost Ring Sights that are compatible with the Glock 17/19 platform. I chose these particular sights because I don't see them very often and I honestly wondered if they had any significant advantages or disadvantages over traditional three-dot or step-and-post sights. For reference, I picked up a pair of AMERIGLO GL-325 Ghost Ring Sights and used them on a Glock 19 Gen 4 pistol.

Ghost Ring Sights GL-325 come in a small package and are very easy to install. If you've never installed Glock sights before, there are several YouTube videos online that show you safe and effective ways to install them, or if you want to take the easy route, you can always have your local Glock Certified Armorer install and wire them. they suit you.

The tritium in both the rear and front sights was very clean and began to glow even in the early evening before the sun had fully set. Visibility was improved by a really impressive green outline on the front sight post, and this one feature proved to be both an advantage and a disadvantage depending on the situation in my opinion. After landing and drifting the sights, it was time to take it to the field and see what the ghost ring spectacle rage was like.

My trip to the range with my friend Tom was enlightening to say the least. In addition to the Glock 19 equipped with ring sights, we also brought a Glock 34 equipped with blackout rear sights and a small red fiber front sight to compare and contrast the two styles. While it wasn't an apples-to-apples comparison, it was the best we could do with the equipment we had, and I think it was enough from showing the essential and simple difference between the two sight styles to the shooter.

Even if it's not perfectly centered, the green dot inside the ring means you're more likely to hit the target—when testing at each extreme end of the inside of the ring, the width was just 3 inches across the target. range was ~4-5 yards)

The first thing I noticed when aiming with the AMERIGLO Ghost Ring scope was that it is very similar to the Leupold Deltapoint Micro red dot sight (but without the attached scope). This made me feel more confident when shooting with both eyes, no matter the distance. I think what's going on here is that the bright front sight acts more like a "bullet" than a post when combined with a dummy ring rear sight and it makes it easier to shoot with both eyes. At 3-10 yards I was able to produce pretty decent rapid fire groups using both eyes.

It was surprising to both me and my friend that the time to reach the target decreased when using both the eye and ghost ring sights. Although I've never used it before, I found shooting the gun and hitting the target felt a bit more natural due to the "circular" look of the sights, as opposed to more traditional sights that require "equal light at equal height". ". to be on target. The best comparison I have for this is that it's similar to putting iron sights on an A2 pistol, but with a much brighter front sight, resulting in a faster aim time compared to a normal target setup.

At close range (I consider it to be in the realm of defensive scenarios) the AMERIGLO Ghost Ring Sights performed perfectly. I was able to make quick and consistent draws at these distances to aim and hold with acceptable accuracy. However, I found quite a few diminishing returns when I covered those distances. At distances over 10 yards, I found the more traditional sights to be more accurate. What happens here is that the rear sights give your front sight a solid 3rd dot where your front sight should be. Although ghost ring sights have two rear tritium dots to mark the front dot, this system is not as accurate as a traditional sight picture.

Overall, I'd say this would be a great pair of scopes to use in a sport, such as a production grade steel challenge, or for a pistol you might want to use for self or home defense. Like any good scope and firearm, you should probably buy a pair, set them up, and practice with them before using them for everyday carry or home defense, as the pros and cons listed here may or may not be accepted. with you.

The biggest tip I've found here is that while they may not be practical for long range engagements, ghost ring sights can offer many of the benefits of a red dot sight without worrying about batteries.
