The first and best reason to consider this pistol is that it is a Glock 19; arguably the finest all-purpose pistol ever made. Large enough to be a duty rifle, it offers functional accuracy and a substantial magazine capacity while being small and light enough for everyday concealed carry.
Additionally, one cannot ignore the excellent reliability record of Glock pistols. From personal experience I've fired well over 100,000 rounds through Gen 3 and Gen 4 Glock pistols and the only malfunctions I've ever experienced were due to faulty non-Glock replacement parts and a botched Cerakote job. With standard parts, a Glock pistol works almost perfectly, even under difficult conditions.

For the Gen 5 specifically, consider the new Glock 19 for a few compelling reasons. First, the slide lock lever is now double-sided. So if you're left-handed, switch the magazine release to the right and you've got a complete left-handed pistol. For those of you who like Glock pistols but don't like grip finger grooves, the Gen 5 comes with a flat front strap on the grip. No customization required.
The Gen 5 brings very little new to the shooting experience, with two notable exceptions. The Glock 19 has always been a soft-shooting, easy-to-handle pistol and has always had an accuracy that exceeds 99.9% of a shooter's ability. What's new to this experience is the new Gen 5 barrel and the grip's flat front strap.
Having shot a lot with Gen 3 and 4 Glocks, I find the lack of finger grooves remarkable. I'm used to the grip to fill my strong hand and now it feels different. I don't mind the difference, but if the finger grips fit my hand perfectly and I miss them on this pistol. I know a lot of people never liked her, so many will be happy with this change.

The new barrel rifle profile is said to double accuracy at longer ranges (4-inch groups at 50 yards, Glock claims). I'm not good enough to get 4" groups at 50 yards yet, but I've found that my groups at 25 yards were noticeably shorter with the Gen 5 compared to my Gen 4 shots. I can't say for sure, but I assume this is due to the more accurate barrel.
The Gen 5 trigger might feel a little better than the Gen 4, but it's subjective and hard for me to say. The Gen 5 trigger assembly is fundamentally different from the Gen 4 and is configured like the Glock 43. It features a "New York" trigger spring that uses a polymer spring assist and a compression spring (rather than a tension spring that hooks the rod at the cross). -shaped). I tried a 3.5 lb connection and didn't feel any pressure to weight difference at all. So I tried a 2lb fitting and got the 4.5lb press I expect in my pistols. Interesting.
